Canada: A VNL force across the genders

While men have starred from the outset, women are making their debut in 2021

Canada are one of ten countries represented in both genders of the 2021 FIVB Volleyball Nations League - but although the men's team has played a prominent role in the first two editions of the competition, finishing 7th in 2018 and 9th in 2019, the women's side are the rookies of this season, after qualifying through the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Challenger Cup.

Graham Vigrass, who played for Turkey's Fenerbahce Istanbul this season, was the best blocker of the 2019 VNL with a .53 per set for a total of 31 blocks. Sharone Vernon, who is with Perugia in the Italian League, is one of only six players to have scored 30 points or more in a single VNL match (from when he bagged 31 against Poland in 2019).
