FIVB unveil snow volleyball logo ahead of inaugural World Tour

Lausanne, Switzerland, March 12, 2019 - The FIVB today unveiled the logo for the inaugural FIVB Snow Volleyball World Tour, which is due to begin on March 28, 2019.

Branding agency Landor worked with the FIVB to create the logo and visual identity, which use the elements of a snowflake as the volleyball, with the FIVB’s logo just above it.

“We wanted the logo to be linked to our primary creative idea for the volleyball family: to be 100% made of volleyball,” said FIVB President, Dr. Ary S. Graça F°.

“The new logo perfectly represents the dynamism and youthful nature of snow volleyball and will be a great visual representation for the Snow Volleyball World Tour.”

“The snow volleyball logo follows the same design process as that of the Volleyball Nations League logo, for which we implemented a powerful typeface which communicates the athletes’ movement,” said Jeremie Barry, Creative Director of Landor Paris.

“The snowflake is a reinterpretation of the shape of the ball and the print it leaves during a game, represented by a logo embossed in white on the court.”

The primary colours used (blue, white and green) were selected because they represent the environment that snow volleyball will take place in. The image will also be displayed in bright green, bringing a more modern look and feel to the young and exciting sport.

The FIVB 2019 Snow Volleyball World Tour begins in Wagrain-Kleinarl, Austria, on 28-31 March, before moving on to Plan de Corones / Kronplatz, Italy, and Bariloche, Argentina. The two events in Austria and Italy are being co-hosted by the FIVB and the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV).

16 men’s and 20 women’s teams will compete in the first leg of the tour. Only 12 will contest the main draw, a three-day event with four pools of three teams each before a single elimination phase. Teams have registered from all five of the FIVB’s continental confederations, standing it out as a truly world event.
