Pool hosts Turkey defeat Brazil on final day of preliminary round

Ankara, Turkey, June 20, 2019 - Turkey downed Brazil 3-2 in the last week of the preliminary round of the 2019 women's FIVB Volleyball Nations League on Thursday night.

Turkey player Meliha Ismailoglu: "It was a very tough match after we lost to Belgium and Italy. We tried to come back with our energy, it was difficult to beat Brazil but I'm really happy with the result. The atmosphere was amazing here. We really love to play here, a lot of people came to gym. Thank you to all the fans who support us."

Turkey coach Giovanni Guidetti: "A victory is not the key point. Our key point is improving. We are trying a lot of things in training and working hard. I want to thank a lot the fans of Ankara because they're amazing and it is really good to play in this atmosphere."

Brazil coach Jose Roberto Guimaraes: "I think that Turkey played an amazing match tonight and they deserved to win. They fight hard. I am proud of my players and staff. And we will focus on the Final 6."

Brazil player Gabi Guimaraes: "Congrats to Turkey. They played a good match and won. We will start the work for the Final 6 now."
