Bangkok, Thailand, June 4, 2019 - A strong block and defence secured Turkey a 3-1 victory (25-20, 25-21, 24-26, 25-18) over the Dominican Republic at the Indoor Stadium Huamark in Bangkok on Tuesday.
Giovanni Guidetti, coach of Turkey: "I think the match was tough as we had expected. We had to face strong blocks, serves and defence against the Dominican Republic. I think we did really well but our side-out is something we need to work on to make it better."
Kubra Caliskan, captain of Turkey: "We started the match really well in the first two sets. And we came back again in the fourth set."
Marcos Kwiek, coach of Dominican Republic: "I think we made too many mistakes especially our reception. We need to learn from that and try to improve our game in the next match."
When asked about tomorrow’s match against Thailand, he said: "It’s going to be a difficult match. We played Thailand in a 5-set match for the last three times. So we need to be prepared."
Prisilla Rivera, captain of the Dominican Republic: "Congratulations to Tukey for their victory. We knew before the match that it was going to be a very difficult match. At the beginning we had lots of anxiety. We now need to focus on tomorrow’s match against Thailand."
