Muserskiy: Inspiring club and country to success

Middle blocker Dmitriy Muserskiy made it into the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Nations League Dream Team as Best Middle Blocker. He inspired Russia to the inaugural competition title victory, which paved the way to a second consecutive success in 2019.

The 32-year-old has earned an impressive collection of gold medals at top international competitions including the 2011 FIVB Volleyball World Cup, the London 2012 Olympic Games and the 2011 and 2013 editions of the FIVB Volleyball World League. Having him on the team gives Russia endless possibilities based on his towering presence and great talent and at the 2018 VNL he delivered some big numbers in the preliminary and final rounds, including 183 spikes, 32 blocks and 17 aces.

After spending most of his professional career in Russia, he moved to Japan to play for the Osaka-based Suntory Sunbirds. He has completed three seasons with the Sunbirds and helped them end a 14-year title drought this year, defeating Michal Kubiak's team Panasonic Panthers in straight sets in the final. He was the league's fifth best scorer and tallied 750 points (635 spikes, 58 blocks and 57 aces) in 30 matches.
