The FIVB mourns the passing of Ziraldo

 

·       Born in 1932, Ziraldo was a great Brazilian illustrator, cartoonist, and writer

·       His renowned children's book "O Menino Maluquinho" (The Nutty Boy), was published in 1980 and is considered one of the greatest phenomena in Brazilian publishing

·       In 2016, Ziraldo was one of the distinguished guests at the Casa do Vôlei (FIVB House of Volleyball) on Copacabana Beach, where he spoke of his admiration for the sport

The FIVB is deeply saddened by the death of Brazilian cartoonist, illustrator, and writer Ziraldo at the age of 91.

Creating beloved characters on the page for decades, his books have sold over 10 million copies and have been published in multiple languages. Some of his creations have been turned into movies, television series, and even operas.

His renowned children's book "O Menino Maluquinho," sold over 4.1 million copies.

In 2016, Ziraldo was one of the distinguished guests at the Casa do Vôlei (FIVB House of Volleyball) on Copacabana Beach, where he met FIVB President Ary Graça, spoke of his admiration for the sport, and created a specialized cartoon for the occasion.
