Hard work pays off for USA’s Sander

Outside hitter Taylor Sander is one of the hardest workers on the United States roster and it is his work ethic and balanced performance in offence and defence that allow him to push his team to the next level.

Sander received Best Outside Spiker honours along with a bronze medal at the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Nations League, where he and Matt Anderson led the North American side in scoring in the final round. As the team's second best scorer, he tallied 38 attacks, three blocks and four aces. He returned in the next edition and came up with even bigger numbers. After scoring 144 points (122 attacks, 12 blocks and 10 aces) in the preliminary round, he added 53 points in the final round to finish as the third best scorer.

His first professional stint was with BluVolley Verona in Italy, where he played for two seasons. He then moved to Asia to play for Chinese club Beijing BAIC Motor for one season before a brief stop in Qatar for Al Arabi. He returned to Italy to play one season for Volley Lube in 2017, then moved to Brazil to reinforce Sada Cruzeiro for the 2018/2019 season. His latest stop was in Poland where he played for Skra Belchatow.
