Cansu Ozbay has her say

Following in the footsteps of superstar Naz Aydemir was never going to be easy for Cansu Ozbay, but coach Giovanni Guidetti's trust in the young setter helped her take on the challenge of running Turkey's offence and making her team a strong contender for medals.

Ozbay was only 20 years old when she won her first continental championship medal in 2017. She soon took things to the next level and led Turkey to a silver medal finish at the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Nations League with an accompanying Best Setter award for her efforts. She ranked in the Top 10 setters during the preliminary round with an 11.39 setting average, but moved up in the final round, almost doubling her average to 23.22 per set.

Now 24, she plays for VakifBank Istanbul and has collected four FIVB Volleyball Club World Championship medals, including back-to-back golds in 2017 and 2018, and bronze medals in 2016 and 2019. VakifBank are in the Turkish League final this season for a third time in a row after winning the titles in the last two editions, and will compete in the final of the CEV Champions League on May 1.
