The Beach Volleyball Champions Cup will pit the best 11 Austrian teams per gender, plus a wild card team, against one another over three rounds of competition.

“We are very-pleased that our top teams with HYPO NOE have a stable and long-term-oriented sponsor at their side who is committed to supporting our athletes even in times of crisis,” Austrian Volleyball Federation President Gernot Leitner said.

“It shows the quality of the partnership if a sponsor does not restrict their budgets even in difficult times - this is extremely important, especially when it comes to promoting young talent.”

The first round takes place across three venues – in Vienna, Salzburg, and Klagenfurt.

From there the top two in each pool, plus the two best third-placed teams progress to the intermediate round which is made up of two groups of four and takes place on July 4 and 5 in Graz and Vienna.

The finals day takes place in Vienna on July 11 which a limited number of fans will be allowed to attend, with €10,000 on offer as prize money.

Austria’s leading men’s pair Clemens Doppler and Alexander Horst couldn’t hide their delight, writing on their Instagram page, “Back to the court! At the end of June @volleyball_austria the Beach Season 2020 starts with the Champions Cup. We will be there live!”
