Further updates to FIVB beach volleyball calendar announced

The FIVB has announced further adaptations to its beach volleyball calendar following discussions with the relevant beach volleyball event organisers.

The FIVB is constantly monitoring the status of all FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour 2020 events, ensuring that the health and wellbeing of athletes, officials and fans remains the top priority in all decision making. As such, the FIVB has announced several updates to the status of these events in consideration of the current situation, global travel limitations and local government restrictions on holding international sports events.

The adaptations to the calendar include the cancellation of several events, originally scheduled for March and May 2020, that were previously postponed due to global coronavirus pandemic. These include the 3-star events in Bandar Abbas, Iran; Gold Coast, Australia and Jurmala, Latvia, as well as a 4-star event in Ostrava, Czech Republic. In addition, there have been further updates to a number of 1 and 2-star events, which can be viewed in the updated calendar via the link below.

The FIVB is working tirelessly to ensure the safe return of beach volleyball events, and will launch the application process for the 2020/2021 calendar later this month. In addition, the official calendar for next season will be communicated to all stakeholders in the upcoming months, with no plans to stage any 3, 4 or 5-star events earlier than the second half of October 2020.

A further update will be shared by August, based on positive updates received from event organisers in consultation with local health authorities.
