Kiara the volley dog helping Beach Vikings keep fit

Lausanne, Switzerland, April 8, 2020 – Kiara the volley dog has become a social media sensation in recent weeks as her appearances training with members of the Norway beach volleyball team have gone viral.

A video of the Flatcoat Retriever and Black Labrador crossbreed training with Norwegian players Mathias Berntsen, Emilie Olimstad and Frida Berntsen has been viewed more than a million times on the FIVB's Twitter account.

Kiara, who was named after the daughter of Simba and Nala from the Disney movie Lion King 2 shows some deft touches off her nose to set up Mathias Berntsen to spike the ball back during a two v two match against Olimstad and Frida Berntsen.

The three-year-old hound concentrates hard as she follows the play and positions herself well to set up chances for Berntsen, who along with Hendrik Mol is ranked 45th in the world rankings.

In doing so she ably demonstrates why dogs are regarded as man’s best friend.

Such is Kiara’s popularity that she now has her own Instagram feed with 24,000 followers.
