Cook Islands set for World Tour debut

 
Rarotonga, Cook Islands, December 1, 2019 – The Cook Islands will have the honour of being the first Oceania country outside Australia to organise an FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour tournament when they host a tournament in January.

The tournament is a men-only 1-Star and will run over three days from January 14 to 17. It is one of 17 1-Star tournaments in the 2019-2020 season and follows on from an event in Qeshm, Iran from January 7 to 10.

The Cook Islands comprises 15 islands with a total land area of 240 square kilometres (93 square miles) and are in the South Pacific Ocean, 2,323 kilometres from New Zealand and 9.320 kilometres from the USA.

There are 41 events in the World Tour calendar with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games beach volleyball tournament also taking place in 2020 from Saturday July 25 to Saturday August 8 and the FIVB U19 Beach Volleyball World Championships to be held in Thailand from September 1 to 6.
