FIVB mourns passing of Dr Rafael Lloreda Currea

 

The FIVB was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dr Rafael Lloreda Currea, President of the South American Volleyball Confederation and member of the FIVB Executive Committee.

Dr Lloreda was a highly-respected and trusted member of the Volleyball Family who served the sport of volleyball since 1983 in various capacities within the Colombian Volleyball Federation, South American Volleyball Confederation and FIVB.

A dear and treasured friend to the FIVB, Dr Lloreda dedicated much of his life to developing the sport of volleyball worldwide. He also worked tirelessly and passionately to ensure that the South American Volleyball Confederation prospered and developed.

In addition, he was a member of the Colombian National Olympic Committee Executive Committee, bringing his wealth of experience and expertise to serve sport in his home country.

FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° said:

“These are very sad times for the entire Volleyball Family. My deepest sympathies and condolences are with Dr Lloreda’s family and loved ones during this very difficult time”.

“Rafael was not only an accomplished volleyball professional, he was a very dear friend of mine. Rest in peace, dear Rafa. We will all miss you dearly”.

The FIVB joins the South American Volleyball Confederation and global Volleyball Family in extending its deepest condolences to Dr Lloreda’s family and friends at this time of great sorrow.
