Bangkok returns in 2019 for World Tour event in April

 
Bangkok, Thailand, November 1, 2018 - The second of three 2019 international beach volleyball events in Thailand will be from April 25 to 28 as Bangkok hosts an FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour men's and women's tournament for the second-straight season.

At the beginning of the month, Satun welcomes back the world's elite players from April 8 to 11. Thailand will also be the site of the FIVB Beach Volleyball Under-21 World Championships from June 18 to 23 in Udonthani.

Teams from Japan and the United States captured the inaugural Bangkok gold medals with the best finishes by Thai teams a fifth by Nuttanon Inkiew/Sedtawat Padsawud in the men's competition and a ninth by Pronsuda Kritsana/Yodsaphat Pakham in the women's division.

Japan's Yusuke "Gottsu" Ishijima/Takumi Takahashi captured the men's gold medal by defeating Austrians Daniel Mullner/Florian Schnetzer in the finals. Alejandro Huerta/Javier Huerta of Spain claimed the 2018 Bangkok men's bronze medal.

In the women's 2018 Bangkok Open, Aurora Davis/Bree Scarbrough of the United States defeated Spain's Maria Carro/Paula Soria for the gold medal with Ayumi Kusano/Takemi Nishibori of Japan placing third.
