With Koshkarev a veteran on the FIVB World Tour with participation since 2005 and Bykanov playing only the last two seasons, the Russian pair will be seeded 43rd in the 2015 Beach Volleyball World Championships. Bykanov will be participating in his first senior world championship while Koshkarev placed ninth twice with Konstantin Semenov in 2011 (Rome) and 2013 (Stare Jablonki). Winners of a European Satellite event last season in Russia (Anapa), Bykanov and Koshkarev have earned medals previously in FIVB youth/junior World Championships. Bykanov earned a podium spot at the under-19 event in 2009 with Andrey Bolgov in Alanya, Turkey. Koshkarev netted a bronze medal at the 2002 under-21 worlds with Ruslan Dayanov in Xylokastro, Greece. Three years later in Rio at the under-21 worlds, Koshkarev and Serguey Prokopyev captured the bronze medal by defeating Pedro Salgado and Tiago Santos. Koshkarev did not play on the 2014 FIVB World Tour due to injuries.
