Thai tandems begin in style at Montpellier

 
Montpellier, France, August 28, 2019 – Second- and third-seeded Thailand pairs Surin Jongklang/Adisorn Khaolumtarn and Nuttanon Inkiew/Sedtawat Padsawud succeeded in their respective main draw opening day matches in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Montpellier 1-star with straight-set victories.



The Thai pairs looked sharp as they secured early victories in Pool B and Pool C, respectively, in the event with a predominantly European main draw cast. Two Japanese teams are also in the main draw but lost their matches against France and Austria in Pool D.

Surin and Adisorn recorded a 2-0 (21-16, 21-19) win over England’s Issa Batrane and Frederick Bialokoz in Pool B, while Nuttanon and Sedtawat registered a 2-0 (21-13, 21-16) victory against France’s Arthur Canet and Teo Rotar in Pool C.

Meanwhile, top seeds Quincy Aye and Arnaud Gauthier-Rat of France topped Norway’s Sadegh Mohajer and Ruben Lovli 2-0 (21-7, 21-8), then the Netherlands’ Dirk Bohle and Stefan Boermans defeated Rubavu 1-star bronze medallists Javier and Joaquin Bello of England 2-1 (22-20, 24-26, 15-11) in Pool A. Their compatriots Florian Gosselin and Jeremy Ullman also won in straight sets.

Other winners on the first day were Austria’s Florian Schnetzer/Laurenz Leitner in Pool B and Moritz Kindl/Mathias Seiser in Pool C and Arwin Kopschar/Michael Murauer in Pool D.
