Angelopoulou and Konstantinou collect two wins to reach Ljubljana main draw

Ljubljana, Slovenia, August 1, 2019 – Cyprus duo Mariota Angelopoulou and Manolina Konstantinou qualified together with three European pairs in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Ljubljana 1-star main draw after collecting two wins on Thursday.

Angelopoulou and Konstantinou completed their opening day mission with a 2-1 (22-20, 17-21, 15-11) win over first seeded Sakurako Fujii and Minori Kumada of Japan in the second round, with both sides winning their three-setters in the first round.

“We are very happy that we will be playing in the main draw,” Angelopoulou said. “We collected two wins against England and Japan. For me this was the first time I managed to beat the Japanese team.

"We are so happy, and we hope that we will play at least one match on the centre court because the ambiance there is so beautiful. Our basic goal is to qualify for the elimination round.”
