Vaduz women’s semifinals feature Japan v Netherlands showdowns

 
Vaduz, Liechtenstein, August 10, 2019 – The women’s semifinals of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Vaduz 1-star will feature two Japan v Netherlands showdowns, as two Japanese and two Dutch teams won their respective quarterfinal matches in straight sets on Saturday.



Japanese top seeds Sayaka Mizoe won their quarterfinal match against Paraguay’s Michelle Sharon Valiente Amarilla and Patricia Carolina Caballero Pena 2-0 (21-12, 21-16) to face the Netherlands’ Emma Piersma and Pleun Ypma, who beat Cyprus’ Manolina Konstantinou and Mariota Angelopoulou 2-0 (22-20, 21-15).

The other semifinal matchup will feature second-seeded Japanese pair Kaho Sakaguchi and Reika Murakami and third-seeded Dutch duo Julia Wouters and Katja Stam, following their triumphs against Colombia’s Claudia and Andrea Galindo 2-0 (21-16, 21-14) and Israel’s Sofia Starikov and Anika Dave 2-0 (21-12, 21-12).

The first semifinal match between Mizoe/Hashimoto and Piersma/Ypma is scheduled at 10.00 local time on Sunday, August 11, followed by the match of Wouters/Stam and Kaho/Reika at 11.00. The bronze medal match will also be played on Sunday at 14.00.
