Starikov and Dave in double triumph at Vaduz qualification

 
Vaduz, Liechtenstein, August 7, 2019 – Israel’s Sofia Starikov and Anika Dave cleared the women’s qualification round with two victories on Wednesday to reach the main draw of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Vaduz 1-star.



Starikov and Dave first beat Italy’s Giulia Toti and Jessica Allegretti 2-0 (21-10, 21-19) before completing the day with a comeback win against Slovenia’s Katarina Bulc and Nina Zdesar 2-1 (18-21, 21-16, 15-10).

The Israeli pair will join Switzerland’s Kim Huber and Melina Hubscher, England’s Anaya Evans and Ellie Austin and Sweden’s Anniken Radstrom and Kristin Lind after recording their respective double victories in the qualification round.

The Netherlands, Japan and England now have two teams each in the main draw. The two Japanese teams are top seeded with Sayaka Mizoe/Suzuka Hashimoto at No.1 and their compatriots Kaho Sakaguchi/Reika Murakami at No. 2. The Dutchwomen Julia Wouters/Katja Stam, who have already won a silver and bronze medal on the World Tour this year, are also potential contenders for the podium.
