World Tour heads back to Bandar Torkaman in Iran in 2019-20

Lausanne, Switzerland, July 23, 2019 – Iran will continue to expand its portfolio of FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour events when the country hosts a 1-Star men’s event in Bandar Torkaman from October 1-4 as part of the 2019-20 season.

The venue on the Caspian Sea coast has already hosted a World Tour event. In October 2018 it was part of the three 1-Star tournament Caspian Sea Series that also featured stops in Babolsar and Bandar Anzali.

For three consecutive years from 2016 Kish Island in the Gulf also hosted a 3-Star tournament, the most recent of which was won by Poland’s Mariusz Prudel and Michel Jakub Szalankiewicz.

The bulk of the 2019-2020 events will be released in September following the World Tour Council meeting. So far three other sites have also been announced; double gender tournaments in China, Mexico and Qatar in October and November 2019, all of whom have previously hosted World Tour events.

The FIVB is currently confirming events in the remaining part of the season from January until August 2020, including additional events in Iran, and welcomes applications from organisers wanting to stage a World Tour event in 2020.

The event organisers will provide board and lodging for all Main Draw teams at the Bandar Torkaman tournament.
