Van Driel and Reinders reign with two-set win in Rubavu women’s final

 
Rubavu, Rwanda, August 24, 2019 – The Netherlands’ Mexime van Driel and Iris Reinders reigned in the women’s final of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Rubavu 1-star with a 2-0 (21-16, 23-21) win over Denmark’s Signe Zibrandtsen Haaning and Cecile Kollner Olsen on Saturday.



The Dutch pair won three matches prior to the gold medal match, including their come-from-behind victory over England’s Victoria Palmer and Jessica Grimson 2-1 (20-22, 21-19, 15-10) in the semi-finals.

The semifinal win gave them momentum to finish their match against the Danish pair in just 36 minutes.

Meanwhile, Palmer and Grimson recouped from their earlier loss and posted a 2-0 (21-10, 21-14) triumph over Rwanda’s Rwanda’s Charlotte Nzayisenga and Judith Hakizimana to win the bronze medal.
