Oslo pumped up for World Tour event

Oslo, Norway, August 27, 2019 - Oslo is getting pumped up for the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour, and so are winners of the Fanta Norgestours Tourfinal, Vegard Løkken & Erlend Henriksveen. The young and athletic team beat all the best Norwegian teams in the Tourfinal except for those competing internationally last weekend. The Fanta Norgestour Tourfinal was played at the same venue that teams from all over the world will use as their battlefield for the next 6 days - Jernbanetorget, right in front of Oslo Central Station.

The first game will take place on Tuesday, August 27, and Løkken/Henriksveen are one of the two teams competing in the first game which is a country quota match where they will have to bear the burden of playing as favourites when they take on Erlend Polden and Andre Fornes.

Erlend Henriksveen from Telemark and Vegard Løkken from Trondheim are starting only their second international appearance after making their international debut in Brazil a few weeks ago. "We are pumped up for this tournament, we love the setup in front of the Central Station. There are more than 100.000 people passing every day, and the stairs in the sun side right next to the court, makes a perfect spot for spectators that are creating a really nice ambiance. We believe this can be a really good experience for us, and we are looking forward to face new challenges."

Promoter Vegard Høidalen, former European Champion and Olympian, is cheering for the two youngsters. "Erlend Henriksveen is from the same part of the country as myself, and he makes a very interesting team together with Vegard Løkken. They remind me a little bit of Jørre Kjemperud and myself as a team back in the days. Serving rockets, and playing the high-risk game."

The Oslo event will be played on one court in front of the Central Station. This will be the first time the FIVB World Tour is hosted by Oslo. Stavanger and Kristiansand have hosted numerous succesful events in the past. The Local club of Oslo, Oslo Sandvolleyballklubb, the national federation of Norway and Vegard Høidalen are co-organising the event.
