The silver medallists of the inaugural 2018 FIVB Volleyball Nations League return this year to the competition with high ambitions, after having narrowly missed out on the gold in a nail-biting final against USA at Nanjing.
Turkey have qualified once to the Olympic Games, finishing ninth at London 2012. They have also competed four times in the FIVB World Championship. Their highest ranking was sixth place in the 2010 edition. In the most recent edition, last year, they ranked tenth, one position down from 2014.
Turkey have won two medals at the European Championship - a silver when they hosted the competition in 2003 and lost 3-0 to Poland in the final, and a bronze in 2011 when they beat Italy 3-2 in the third place playoff. In 2015 Championship, they lost to Serbia 3-0 in the bronze medal match.
Turkey first took part in the FIVB World Grand Prix in 2008, but missed out on the next three editions before returning in 2012 to take the competition by storm and winning the bronze medal. They also made it to the Final Six in 2014, finishing fourth with a 2-3 record.
