Stuttgart, Germany, June 13, 2019 –
After two defeats in a row the Dominican Republic celebrated their
first win in the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart while Belgium couldn’t
finish week four with a win.
Marcos Kwiek, coach of the Dominican Republic said: "I´m very happy that we could finish the Volleyball Nations League in Stuttgart with a victory. We stumbled at the beginning but made a great comeback after 1:2 deficit today. We improved our service and reception during the game which was the key to success against Belgium."
Belgium coach Gert Vande Broek quoted: "Everyone could see why I gave my players a little rest yesterday. It was our 12th match in four weeks. We almost played with the same players, who did great things, but now need some more days off. Congrats to the Dominican Republic, they made a great comeback and deserved the win. I´m ok with the result. We will see what is possible the next weekend. There is still a chance to reach the final-six."
Niverka Dharlenis Marte Frica, setter of the Dominican Republic added: "The great win in the fourth set was very important for us. We gained more confidence because we controlled it totally. We almost retained the upper hand during the long rally which weakened the emotional way of playing of the Belgium Team. We are happy that we closed the Volleyball Nations League in Stuttgart with a victory."
