Bednorz on target as Poland claim bronze

 

Chicago, USA, July 14, 2019 - Bartosz Bednorz scored 20 points to lead Poland to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-21) victory against Brazil and claim the bronze medals at the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League Finals at the Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago on Sunday.


Other Polish players scoring in double digits as the back-to-back reigning world champions defeated the South American Olympic champions were Lukas Kaczmarek (11 points) and captain Karol Klos (10). Alan Souza was the leading point scorer for Brazil with 8.

Poland finished fifth of the competition’s Preliminary Round on 11 wins from 15 matches. In the Finals’ pool stage they first defeated Brazil in five sets before getting the better of Iran in four. They were defeated by Russia in the semifinals on Saturday. Brazil meanwhile finished top of the Preliminary Round on 14 wins before losing to Poland and winning against Iran in the Finals’ pool round, both times in five sets. Brazil lost to USA in the semifinals on Saturday.
