VNL stars set the pace with clubs across the globe

 

Lausanne, Switzerland, January 28, 2019 - The second edition of the FIVB Volleyball Nations League is still some months away, but the stars who are expected to shine for their national teams in 2019 are already gearing up as they thrill the crowds with their clubs across the globe.

Aleksandar Atanasijevic of Serbia was instrumental once again, top scoring with 13 points in the win of Sir Safety Conad Perugia in the Italian Superleague against Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia as Perugia lead the standings.
Viktor Poletaev of defending VNL champions Russia added 20 points for Kuzbass Kemerovo against Yaroslavich in the latest round of the Russian Superleague and continues to lead the top scorers of that league.
Maxim Mikhaylov of Russia, MVP in last year's inaugural VNL, bagged 21 points (including 16/27 for 59% in attack) on the weekend for table leaders Zenit Kazan against Dinamo Moscow, as he continues to be amongst the most efficient spikers (201/332 for 61%) in the Russian Superleague.
Maciej Muzaj of Poland has been hard at it for Trefl Gdansk in the European Men's Champions League, consistently scoring above five points per set on average and was named Best Player in his team's latest match against Greenyard Maaseik of Belgium.
Wallace Souza of Brazil continues to lead the scorers table in the Brazilian Superleague with an average of 4.78 points per set - though he brought in 10 for SESC Rio de Janeiro against Caramuru Volei, behind his team mate Leandro Santos who bagged 13.
Kevin Le Roux of France was top blocker for table leaders Sada Cruzeiro Contagem. He ranks third in the best blockers list of the Brazilian Superleague, trailing locals Renan Morales and Matheus Santos.



• In women's action, Paola Egonu of Italy continues to top the Italian League scorers list, adding 18 points to her total, despite her team Igor Gorgonzola Novara losing to Imoco Volley Conegliano in their latest game.
Kim Hill of USA was decisive in Conegliano's win, contributing 13 points.
• Bulgaria's Elitsa Vasileva led Italian League table leaders Savino Del Benne Scandicci in their latest win over Club Italia Crai.
Tijana Boskovic of Serbia was top scorer of the Turkish League derby with 28 points for table leaders Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul against cross-town rivals Fenerbahce Opet.
Lonneke Sloetjes of the Netherlands and Kelsey Robinson of USA led Turkey's VakifBank Istanbul in their latest European Women's Champions League win against France's Beziers.
