Sclater: We had great team energy in Argentina

San Juan, Argentina, June 3, 2018 – Canada completed a perfect weekend with three victories in Argentina, following their four-set triumph over Iran at the Volleyball Nations League on Sunday.

Canada coach Stephane Antiga
: “We came here with an ambitious goal – two victories with difficult opponents in mind. Fortunately we made it even better by winning three matches. We are very happy. We improved a lot from last weekend and even when we have very difficult games ahead, we can have faith in making it to the Final Six if we keep on playing like this.”

Canada player Ryan Sclater
: “I think we did a good job making sure that even when they started to play better, we didn’t give up in many long runs. We played a very consistent game and we had great team energy here in Argentina. We had confidence and each player contributed in different ways. Everybody is really happy to help the team and that made the difference this weekend.”

Iran coach Igor Kolakovic
: “For us the third set was very positive because we showed ourselves that we can play in difficult situations. The opening was really strong for us today, but without energy we cannot play. The players on the bench helped us to recover the energy and even though we lost, I’m happy for the fight and the authority we showed today.”

Iran player Amir Ghafour: “Our reception was very bad today, but after the first two sets, we fought hard and got back in the game. That is very good for us especially because some young players played very well. We lost but we played hard until the end. That is positive.”
